Farmer's Market - September 20

I didn't buy very much this week, though you wouldn't have known it by the weight of my bag. We have lots of evening events this week so I won't be doing much cooking. We've already eaten a fair amount of this! The best find today was those apples. Those are not just any apples, those are honeycrisp apples. Developed here in Minnesota they are quite simply the best apples I've ever tasted. They are widely available here and we'll be devouring them until the stores run out. Try some, if you seem them in your market.

A car accident (not involving me or the girl and everyone is fine) which will require a new car being purchased and a child telling lies (and I'm open to advice on handling this) has left me feeling not so upbeat this weekend. I'll be around to see you soon.

I'm glad to hear that no one was hurt in the accident. Good grief...would bring anyone down.

I had an issue with my son when he was 9. He felt compelled to lie to me about homework, projects at school, etc. I don't know what prompted any of it but he was grounder numerous time and then just when I got really concerned about it, he just stopped.

I can't take any credit for it so I can't offer any advice but I know how it feels to be lied to. Hugs!

Good luck with the new car purchase and the kid lecturing. I only have a speech-delayed 4 year old so we don't have much lying yet (except for when he tells people he's 5!).

We just got honeycrisps at the supermarket this past week and I of course got some. I can't wait a few weeks until they get the really big ones! Mmmm!!

So sorry to hear about the accident but glad everyone is ok. As for the lying, without knowing how old the child is I have no advice except: hang in there!

Glad to hear no-one was hurt! Take it easy.

p.s. I am back blogging again. Also, just wanted to make sure you got my email last week ... no pressure with all that is happening in your life right now, just wanted to make sure :-)

Lying: Perhaps you could introduce a hypothetical situation in which the child might someday really need your help and need you to listen, but because they have a history of lying, you *might* not believe them when it was really really important that you must.

Ti, thank you -and it just feels horrible to be lied to. I couldn't stop crying yesterday morning as I was so angry, frustrated, and embarrassed.

Kristen M, thank you. Yeah for the honeycrisps!

Ali, thank you.

Nutmeg, hearing you are blogging again makes my day. I'm going to respond to your email right away.

Bybee, I like your thinking! I'll have to give some thought to how to execute that. Hmm..

I'm so sorry to hear about the accident and the lies afterwards, that's horrible to hear.

On an upbeat note I love love love your farmer's market pics. I've never commented but it brings a yearning in me for a farmer's market to be close to me. You would think that living in West Virginia I might have one around every corner, but no, not here. So I live vicariously thru you :)

Yuck on the accident. Like always, I enjoy your photos. We've just got one month left for our farmer's market.

Kristian, thanks and thank you for saying you enjoy my farmer's market pics! I don't think many people are terribly interested in those posts, but it's selfish because I love to go back and look at them. Too bad to hear you don't have a market near you. Thanks for stopping by!

Natasha, thanks. Ours officially ends at the end of October, but they are open for a few hours on Sat. through the winter to buy meat, eggs, and honey.
